Washington County Jail Roster Overview
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office maintains the jail roster and daily booking reports for people held in county custody. The roster is the fastest public way to check whether someone is currently in the jail.
State and federal custody lookups are separate from the county roster, so it helps to know which system fits the person you are searching for.
It does not replace state prison or federal inmate locators, and it does not show every non-county detention record. Use the county roster for county jail custody, the Minnesota DOC locator for state prison custody, and the BOP locator for federal custody.
How to Use the Washington County Inmate Roster

What an Inmate Profile Shows
An inmate profile or roster line gives you the basics: who is in custody, when they were booked, and when they may be released. It does not substitute for the court case file or a full criminal history.

Washington County Jail Facilities
The main jail is the 228-bed Washington County Jail in Stillwater. Washington County also operates a temporary juvenile holding facility at the same law-enforcement complex.

Booking Process in Washington County
After an arrest, the person is booked, fingerprinted, and placed into custody or released under a bond or citation condition. The booking report shows the booking type, arresting agency, and charges tied to the intake.
From there, the case moves to court for an appearance or hearing, and the criminal case file takes over as the record of the prosecution.
Visitation Hours and Rules
Washington County uses specific in-person and video visitation rules, plus mail and property rules that are controlled by jail administration. Visitors need a valid photo ID and must follow the jail’s screening and clothing rules.
